The things to take care of in a kitchen besides good food are hygiene and safety. Both of these factors are crucial as they help to successfully cook good food, the ones we end up licking our fingers with. This is the main reason why don’t we use expired ingredients, comb our hair in the kitchen, and chop meat raw on our kitchen counter keeping in view the prime factors of protection and cleanliness.

Unfortunately, there are some things which we neglect while we are in the kitchen and if we don’t recognize our mistakes in time, it can lead to the sickness spread in ourselves and our family too. Sometimes, even the best chefs can make mistakes, so it’s necessary we keep in mind some key point to avoid any sort of inconvenience.

Undercooked food or losing track of time

Undercooked foodPeople always worry about the germs present inside the food thinking that this can make them sick whereas it is a misconception because 80% of the food poisoning cases in the USA have been discovered because of eating the germs present on the outside of food items because of the fact that it had been undercooked. The cook might have lost the track of time and the germs hadn’t been killed completely.

So while cooking food, one must make sure it is not left undercooked as it can lead to various diseases.

Food thermometer missed out

It should always be noted that while cooking meat we do not take off the utensil before the meat is properly cooked. The required temperature must be achieved to kill the bacteria found in meat and after that, the food can be garnished or served. To cook seafood, poultry food, meat or egg products, a food thermometer must always be considered.

Neglecting proper temperature to keep foods

It is always advised to keep the foods at a proper temperature. For the hot foods, it is being recommended that they must be kept above 140 degrees Fahrenheit to keep it all protected and for the cold foods it is advised them to keep under 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

Not washing your hands often enough

To fight against the food borne diseases, it is the best to wash your hands properly and more often. You get to handle many of the heavy ingredients while being in a kitchen like meat, fish, and chicken so washing hands properly, just not for the sake of soaping them up should be a normal practice.

Neglecting to clean the kitchen

Even though when you wash your dishes thoroughly and completely but fail to clean your kitchen and kitchen counters regularly, the dust particles still become a part of your food or utensils. It is always advised to clean the microwave, dishwasher, sink and kitchen counter regularly on proper intervals to portrait a perfect picture of a hygienic kitchen.

Washing chicken or meat in the sink

WashingWashing chicken fruits or vegetables in the kitchen sink is a normal and routine practice, but it is never advised to wash the poultry or meat in the kitchen sink. The reason is it can spread very harmful bacteria in the sink which might, later on, stick to the food items or kitchen utensils we daily wash in the kitchen sink.

So it is always said to keep your surroundings clean and hygienic. There are just small life tips and hacks which need to be practiced for us to stay safe and healthy and keep our family protected too.
